Maybe Someday by Colleen Hover Review

When I come home after a very long week of school I like to curl up with a good book and read about other peoples love lives and drama from a respective distance. This past week I’ve indulged into Colleen Hoover’s Maybe Someday, a new adult novel with an accompanied soundtrack.

I’ve read some of Colleen Hoover’s previous novels including her Hopeless Series so I knew I was in for an emotional ride. Maybe Someday is about named Sydney and Ridge who find it very difficult to communicate for each other but have this magnetic connection towards each other that is bound to cause some trouble. Even as they both struggle to try and do the right thing by staying away from each other, the two tangle themselves into a mess ultimately bringing them closer than ever before.

In this novel Sydney finds out that she enjoys writing music and it is during her writing sessions with Ridge that their connection crescendos. Here comes in the soundtrack element of the novel. If you have this book on audio or go onto you can listen on to the music and songs written specifically for this book. For me this really intensified the story and brought the characters to life. The musician who was commissioned for these songs really hit the nail on the head capturing the mood and essence of Hoover’s books perfectly. Laidback and gritty with some definite heat. If you can, I recommend listening to the songs while reading to get the full experience.

The story is definitely a tearjerker. There was many a time while reading this where I would start tearing up for the character’s as they face difficulties in friendships, relationships and love triangles. If you are looking for a book to escape to then I really recommend this series. Colleen Hoover really knows how to write for the teenager in all of us.
