Products I Wish I loved

I don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer in this post but sometimes I try products that don’t tickle my fancy. These are a few products that I wish my skin got along with!

I really wanted to enjoy this first product because I’ve heard so much about the brand but I don’t think it is right for me. The Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil is said to be a two-in-one makeup remover and cleanser. I wasn’t blown away with this product even after its hefty price tag. This is said to be a gentle cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin but as a makeup remover I don’t think it is powerful enough for me. If I compare this product to my Una Brennan Super Facialist Cleansing Oil, this drugstore alternative wins me over every time. Not only is it affordable but a little goes a long way which I find is the opposite with Tatcha.

For me, the Tatcha cleansing oil didn’t make me feel like I was washing away my day. I am glad I tried the product in travel size as I don’t think I would ever repurchase.

Everyone seems to love Too Faced eye shadows but the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette really disappointed me. I was 100% drawn in to the brand from its adorable packaging because who can resist heart shaped pans? I loved the colours in this palette but the shades I was most excited for, Earl Grey and Totally Fetch, were total flops. Pigmentation and texture were disappointing and I found no matter how much I blended, I never enjoyed my looks and they began to look sloppy. I love the neutrals in this palette but I haven’t been picking this up as often as I expected to. I remember really enjoying the shade Molasses Chip and Almond Truffle so I will try my luck with another Too Faced palette soon before I write anything off.

The Benefit Shy Beam is such an adorable concept but I the actual product is rubbish. I enjoyed the idea of having a natural highlight colour, nothing too glittery that attracts all the attention from my face but something soft and glowy. This matte highlighter didn’t make any real difference to my cheekbones. When swatched it gives a wash of colour but it isn’t something a lighter concealer couldn’t do. In fact, I’ve been using my concealer to highlight and I still get better results.

The final product is a fairly new one to me but I can tell already that I will not be getting much use out of it. I had high hopes for the Benefit Ready, Set, Brow! 24h Setting Gel when it came out during Benefit’s big re launch with new packaging and new products. I am the type of person who likes a natural brow, nothing like the infamous Instagram brows I am used to seeing on literally everyone lately. The bristles are only on two sides of the making it look like it was either flattened like a pancake or shaved off on two sides. I am not sure why it was designed so as it does nothing to help apply product. I found that when the clear gel is then applied it sets crispy and hard. *sigh * I’ve been having trouble with my brows lately and although it looks cute in my makeup bag, this will be given to a friend ASAP.

What are some of your disappointing products? Do you actually enjoy some of the ones I’ve mentioned? Am I an idiot and should give them another shot?

*live simply, love lightly, laugh loudly*
